December 2009

On November 14 we had a wonderful Harvest Saturday with beautiful sunny weather. We had almost 70 family and friends and 20 paid workers here to hand pick the olives. We started picking at 8am after coffee and breakfast and a blessing of the harvest by Pastor Mike Griffin. By 2pm we had completed the harvest with 4975 lbs. in the bins. We then had a wonderful harvest lunch catered by Jill Webb our daughter from Portland, OR. On Sunday the 15th we headed for Hopland at 1pm and got to Olivino, where they have a new three stone Italian olive press, at 2pm and they had our olives pressed by early evening. We got 78.1 gallons of olive oil. We then bottled on December 5 at Olivino using their bottling line and got 54 cases of oil. This year we also sold 8 gallons of bulk olive oil to Silver Spoon Catering in Portland, Oregon. We are currently selling and shipping oil for $25 per bottle and $300 for a case of 12 bottles. If you live on the West Coast, call me at 707-586-3777 and I will ship your oil to you. If you live in Sonoma County, I will deliver your oil free. If you live elsewhere in the lower 48 use our website at www.tbvevoliveoil.com, to order olive oil up to a case. For higher volumes, please call me.

For 2010 we will be harvesting on Saturday November 13.

In 2009 we won a Gold Medal for our olive oil in the California Olive Oil Council’s competition.

Hi All, Many thanks to those of you that helped with this year’s harvest. We weighed in with 6004 lbs. of olives a 12% increase over last year. We had a good yield of 58.8 lbs. of olives per gallon of oil and got 102.1 gal of oil. Out of that we will bottle on December 6 and will get about 83 cases of oil or 1000 bottles. You can buy oil by calling Doug at 707-586-3777 or by using our website   www.tbvevoliveoil.com but if you live in Sonoma County call me because we do free delivery. Also, for you that were here on Harvest Day(11/8) I am mending well from my Ranger crash into the redwood tree. And the tree is doing very well but the Ranger is probably totaled. For those of you that want to help at next year’s olive harvest mark your calendars for Saturday November 14. All the best, Doug and Judi

The Los Angeles County Fair has for several years held a large Olive Oil Competition that has become the largest in the US. For 2005 to 2008 we have won 1 silver medal and 3 gold medals for our Terra Bella Vista Tuscan Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
